Meet the CS Ellis workshop team
Meet Jamie M: Our Group Fleet Engineer
You could say logistics runs in the family—my dad was a Director here for 15 years—so I grew up around the business, helping in the office and washing lorries during school holidays. That early exposure sparked something in me. I’ve always preferred hands-on work and knew early on I wanted a career where I could see the results of my effort.
I joined the fleet team in a junior role and quickly realised how much responsibility came with it. At first, the pressure felt intense—mistakes seemed huge—but I learned that setbacks are part of the process. It’s how you recover, adapt, and improve that matters.
Over time, the effort paid off. I found my rhythm, built confidence, and started taking on more. The drive to get things right—whether staying late or stepping in wherever needed—has always been there. One of the most important things I’ve learned is how to treat people. Leadership isn’t about giving orders; it’s about leading by example and earning respect by being willing to do the job yourself.

As a child, Mick had a unique career ambition—he wanted to be a “drain cleanerouter” (his own way of describing the important job of keeping things flowing underground!). However, his career took a different route, starting as an apprentice vehicle mechanic. Now IMI qualified (holding CAE and AMIMI accreditation), he brings a wealth of technical expertise to our team
