A Day in the Life
Start time: 8:00am
First thing I do: Make a coffee and check the jobs for the day
Most common jobs: Servicing units and trailers, steam cleaning, MOT washes, pre-fleet checks
What I did today: Prepared a new truck (pre-fleet) – stickers, tyre pressures, wheel nut torque checks, speed checks, tacho setup, fitting fire extinguishers
Typical problems: Tyre punctures or worn tyres that need replacing
Best part of the day: MOT washes – messy, but satisfying seeing everything clean
Hardest part: Learning to keep up with the pace in the first few weeks
Finish time: Around 4:00pm

My Story
What got you into mechanics? I started in electrics at Stamford College and wanted to be a spark, but engines have always interested me
Did you always know? Yes – this is what I want to do
Who influenced you? My grandad and dad – my dad’s a driver and handy with cars
If not mechanics? Probably working in bars
